The West Coast Highway is a primary distributor road located along Perth’s coastline – incorporating the popular Scarborough Beach area.

Ever increasing volumes of traffic had called for significant improvements to be made to the road system in the area, due to the potential traffic conflicts this was creating with implications to safety, amenity and traffic efficiency – particularly for cyclist and pedestrian safety.

Works commenced with the reconstruction of the West Coast Highway between and including the Scarborough Beach Road and Manning Road intersections.

Following a planned ten week break to accommodate the busiest holiday period, the second and final stage of works to reconstruct Scarborough Beach Road recommenced, and were completed to schedule by May 2010.

Highway Construction‘s traffic management expertise was a key factor in the award of this project, with the sheer mass of pedestrians traffic traversing the site area heightening safety concerns.

As a result, Highway Construction’s extensive track record delivering works of a similar nature ensured the project was delivered safely and to schedule.
