A milestone project for the company, Highway Construction managed the construction of Reid Highway from Wanneroo Road to West Swan Road in three stages over the course of a six year period. Stage 1 of Reid Highway involved the construction of an 8km dual carriageway, 5 major intersections, and a triple span bridge at Northwood Drive. Stage 2 works comprised the construction of a 2km dual carriageway, 1.8km of noise walls, and bridges at Princess Road and Walderton Avenue. Stage 3 of Reid Highway involved the construction of an 8km single carriageway, the realignment of existing roads, and the construction of 3 major intersections. Highway Construction also managed the construction of a 55m long bridge over Bennett Brook and a 7m long pedestrian underpass.
- Placement and movement of some 1,000,000m3 of fill material using Scrapers and Highway Trucks
- The collection, storage and care of some 600 native plants that were later transported back onto the project site
- Extensive traffic management at local and major intersections
- Protection of Aboriginal sites of significance.
- In order to reduce traffic disruptions, an asphalt “thicklift” was used in lieu of traditional pavement techniques on Stage 2.
- Lowering of Princess Road and Mirrabooka Drive for the new overhead bridges
